The builder is in the room
The person scoping the work is the person making the technical decisions and writing the code.
Rich Harrington · Full-stack developer · UK
Websites, SaaS platforms, hosting and rescue work, delivered directly by the person you spoke to at the start.
The short version
I’m one person who gives a shit about the work.
When you hire me, you get me, not a junior who Googles things while you’re on the call. I’ve built platforms that handle thousands of users, fixed sites that were bleeding money, and kept businesses running when their technology was falling apart.
My approach is straightforward: understand the real problem, build the right solution, ship it, and be there afterwards. No jargon, no disappearing act and no important detail lost in a hand-off.
What working together feels like
The person scoping the work is the person making the technical decisions and writing the code.
A fast stack means nothing if it does not improve the customer journey, remove work or help the company grow.
Risks, trade-offs and awkward constraints are explained early. You get useful answers, not reassuring fog.
Hosting, monitoring, maintenance and the next useful improvement can remain joined up after release.
The journey
Different eras, one consistent theme: make complicated digital work dependable and useful.
Shipping high-traffic digital experiences and learning the hard way that good code only matters when it solves a real problem for real people.
Lean custom builds, performance work, security clean-ups and more hacked-site rescues than I can count.
Full-stack platforms, AI integrations, data-heavy applications and operational tools for agencies, startups and in-house teams.
WordPress automation, hosting, DNS, care packages and client portals, bringing the unglamorous things that must keep working into one place.
What I bring
Custom products, SaaS platforms, APIs, dashboards and applications.
Content-led websites, custom themes and platforms teams can actually manage.
Databases, deployments, environments, monitoring and the infrastructure around the product.
Domains, SSL, recovery planning, performance and ongoing maintenance.
Beyond the code
I’m vocal about mental health, second chances and building a life you are proud of. My path was not perfectly straightforward, and I do not pretend it was.
Outside work: an ever-expanding Funko Pop collection, strong opinions about coffee, and a dog convinced the keyboard is a pillow.
Enough about me
Bring the half-formed idea, the awkward legacy system or the website nobody wants to touch. We can work out the sensible next move.
Direct access, no agency hand-off
A short conversation is enough to establish whether my experience fits the problem and what a sensible next step looks like.
